Mr. Bates, to me, is the epitome of what is good in this world. I also love how Julian Fellowes made me actually FEEL how awkward his disability was; every time he had to shake someone’s hand or take a plate, he first had to hang is cane on his left arm. Mr. Bates is my favorite fictional character besides Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird, and I don’t see how anyone could possibly dislike him.
